Digital vs Film Photography: Why is This a Thing?

Who cares? As long as you’re taking photos. Next debate.

Why is there even a division as to “which one is better?”

Oh, I get the appeal of film. I cut my teeth on black-and-white film photography in high school and college and loved every minute of it.

Heading out with a film camera (digital didn’t exist back then, but T-rexes did) Anyway, heading with a digital camera knowing that you only had 24 or 36 shots. You had to take things easy, go slow and work out exposure and composition in your head before pressing that shutter button $$$cha-ching$$$

Oh, and that dark room. I never wanted to leave. I could live in that place, and somedays, I did.

High school Photography Teacher: “Aydyn, shouldn’t you be in math class?”

Me: “I guess so… but I have to dodge out these highlights.”

High School Photography Teacher: Hmm, oh yeah, that would really help. Also, try burning in this shadow a bit more.

I shoot digital. Why? $$$$ I’m invested in digital. I remember my first digital camera blew my fucking mind! I can see a photograph right away?

At the end of the day, just do photography. Learn the craft.
